Dear County Councillors,
I am writing to you in
connection with a site of land of approximately
30.5 acres in the
Lisnamult area of
Roscommon Town.
My brother,
Mr Gerald Finnerty, is the legal owner of the site and he has plans to sell it
later this year.
At the present time, the site is
farmland.
I recently placed some
maps of the site on
the Internet, and they can be viewed at the following location:
http://www.lisnamult.com/LandMaps/25June2006.htm A
few years ago, my brother very kindly offered to let me have one-third of the
money he receives for the site, on the understanding that I would do the bulk of
the work connected with the sale. Hence my involvement, and my interest, in
this matter.
It is my hope that it will be possible for us
(i.e. myself, my brother, and my half-sister Ms Marjorie Dolan) to get
planning permission of some kind for the site before it is sold, even if
it is only outline planning permission. (Please note that my brother has
also decided to give one-third of the proceeds of the sale to our
half-sister.)
A
pre-planning meeting has been arranged
for
July 10th 2006; and, we hope to find out as much as
possible, from the meeting, about what the site in Lisnamult might best be used
for, having due regard for
Roscommon Town & County Development Plans.
It is in connection with this particular aspect of things that I feel I should
now try to ensure that all
Roscommon County Councillors are aware of the
fact that the thirty acre site at Lisnamult is due to come up for sale later
this year.
Any help, guidance, ideas, and so on, that any of
you might wish to let us have - either directly or indirectly -
regarding the matter of what the Lisnamult site could best be used for in the
future would be very much appreciated.
It might help you to
know that there is some background information on the events and circumstances
which lead up to our decision to formally request a pre-planning meeting
regarding the Lisnamult site, and it can be viewed at the following
address:
http://www.lisnamult.com/TraceyDavis/Planner/RoscommonCountyCouncil/20April2006/Email.htm It
may also be of interest to some of you to know that the Lisnamult site once
belonged to our grandfather, the late Thomas Finneran, who used to live in
Quarry House on the Convent Road, up to the time he died in 1959. (For
anyone who might be interested, there is some additional Finneran/Finnerty/Dolan
family information also available via the Internet address provided immediately
above, towards the end of the "
13 May 2005 e-mail
to Breeda Burke" section of that particular page.)
We
look forward to receiving any help you may be able to let us have regarding our
wish to try and get planning permission of some kind for the site at
Lisnamult before my brother sells it.
Yours
sincerely,
William
Finnerty.
